Cybersecurity and Data Protection: Key Impact, Implementation Challenges and To-Dos

On 28 May 2024, Rajah & Tann Asia kicked off its “Borneo Conversations with Rajah & Tann Asia” series with a seminar titled “Cybersecurity and Data Protection: Key Impact, Implementation Challenges and To-Dos”.

Cybersecurity and data protection is the bedrock of organisation resilience in the digital age. As Brunei works towards being a Smart Nation through digital transformation and with the growing impact of artificial intelligence (“AI“), it is important to recognise the importance of a robust data governance framework and the need to protect data, infrastructure, and networks from growing cyber threats.

At the seminar, the speakers delved into important topics on cybersecurity and data protection including the following: (i) how personal data protection measures affect an organisation when implemented; (ii) safeguarding digital assets and improving the cybersecurity preparedness of an organisation; and (iii) the issues an organisation should be concerned of when deploying generative AI tools.

The speakers comprised Kendall Tan, Head of Rajah & Tann Asia’s Brunei Business Unit, and Rajesh Sreenivasan and Steve Tan, Head and Deputy Head, respectively, of the Technology, Media & Telecommunications Practice.
